Ariz. university is likely to shut down nuclear-research reactor

Reduced demand for nuclear engineers has prompted the University of Arizona to close its 51-year-old nuclear-research reactor next year. The facility's license ends next year, and facing a thorough relicensing, officials decided to cease its operations. "We're still doing some research, but not really enough to justify us reapplying for a license," said John Williams, the lab's director.
