The use of hybrid imaging systems, such as the combination of fluorescence, MRI and PET or SPECT imaging, has significant potential to improve molecular imaging applications, according to this HealthImaging.com editorial. But the imaging community also has to address several problems with hybrid imaging, such as the need to optimize the multimodal systems for cardiac imaging, the editorial said.
