Panasonic begins producing new lithium batteries for notebooks

Panasonic has started producing a 3.1Ah lithium battery for notebook computers that, according to this report, is more energy-efficient, safer and more durable. The new battery includes an insulating Heat Resistance Layer that is designed to prevent the type of overheating that has led to fires in the machines in the past.
