High-school students in the Detroit Lakes area have a supportive business community giving them opportunities to investigate careers ranging from health care to manufacturing. The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce recently singled out the area's school-to-work program as the kind of student intern program it would like to see in cities and towns across the state. "You can't wait until somebody's at the community college or the state university until you start talking to them about a variety of their range of career options," Chamber Senior Vice President Bill Blazer said.
