Chemical firms continue to weigh U.S. ethane crackers

The chemical-manufacturing industry is awaiting decisions by Dow Chemical, Bayer and Royal Dutch Shell on building ethane facilities in West Virginia, Pennsylvania or Ohio. "Leaders from all three states have shown great interest in having us build our cracker there. We won't comment on the proposals from the states as we continue discussions with them," said Dan Carlson, general manager of new business development at Shell Chemicals.
