Smart-meter ICs will be a $1.1 billion market, IHS iSuppli says

Chips going into smart meters will post sales of $1.1 billion in 2016, doubling this year's revenues of $505 million, according to IHS iSuppli. Driving this growth will be the increased use of smart meters, which the market research firm forecasts will total 20.5 million units shipped this year and 62 million units shipped in 2016.
