N.Y. Times pay wall becomes a significant revenue source

The New York Times' online pay wall will generate an estimated $91 million this year, according to Evercore Partners analyst Douglas Arthur, who says the Internet will account for 12% of subscriptions for the Times and the International Herald Tribune. The premium site's sales -- which have surpassed online-advertising revenues -- are growing faster than the newspaper's advertising dollars are declining, Arthur says.
