Rhode Island schools are first in U.S. to host Confucius Classrooms

A group of Rhode Island educators recently traveled to China for a meeting sponsored by the nonprofit Confucius Institute, which is sponsoring Chinese instruction for students in two Rhode Island schools and may expand to more in the state. Funded in part by a $500,000 grant from China's Office of Chinese Language Council International, the Confucius Classrooms are the first permanent satellite centers to be established in U.S. public schools.
