Specialized wound care allows man to have needed heart surgery

A 58-year-old man with 10% heart function needed open-heart surgery but first had to receive specialized wound care to ensure that he was healthy enough to survive surgery. Therapy included 60 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy at TMC Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine in Sherman, Texas. "This is probably one of the best parts of my job ... we get the satisfaction of seeing the patient's gratitude and their just joy of having their wounds healed," Dr. Tram Hill said.
