Custom or prefab insoles lower peak pressure in diabetic neuropathy

Prefabricated insoles perform comparably to custom-made insoles in relieving peak plantar pressure and reducing foot ulcer risks in patients with diabetes-related neuropathy, a study of 119 patients showed. Prefabricated insoles are less expensive than custom-made insoles and should be considered where clinically appropriate, researchers wrote in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Research.
