Competition launched to revive San Francisco's Transbay Terminal

While plans to transform San Francisco's Transbay Terminal into the "Grand Central Terminal of the West" made little progress in the past, newer efforts by the Transbay Joint Powers Authority have moved the project forward. While the South of Market neighborhood around it has seen a revival, the station has slowly deteriorated, but an international competition has been launched to select an architect and developer for the terminal and an adjacent 850-foot tower.
