Studies show value of fat-derived stem cells in tissue reconstruction

Adipose-derived stem cells maintained their characteristics in in vitro cultures enough to boost tissue regeneration when transplanted, recent studies found. "The use of purified adipose-derived stem cells might improve [tissue repair] by shortening the time to achieve aesthetic results and thereby improving patient quality of life," said researcher Rita Falcioni of the Regina Elena Cancer Institute in Rome.
