Architecture students embark on project designs for site near 1 WTC

Architecture students at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Utah were tasked with creating a 100,000-square-foot performing-arts center on a 30,000-square-foot city lot near One World Trade Center in New York. Much of what was created was vertical, but "[i]t was a struggle between having our buildings generate power and presence without neglecting or turning our back on ground zero," said Adam LaFortune, a student at the University of Utah.
