"Jersey Shore" is cable's top-rated nonsports series for 2011

MTV's "Jersey Shore" is 2011's highest-rated nonsports cable TV series for total viewers and among the important 18-to-49 demographic. Nielsen's live-plus-seven-days ratings indicate that the reality series garnered an average of 9.2 million viewers, compared with 6 million in 2010, and scored an average of 6.5 million viewers among the 18-to-49 set, compared with 4.1 million in 2010. The AMC show "Walking Dead" was second, followed by TNT's "Rizzoli & Isles" and "The Closer" and History's "Pawn Stars."
