Consumer confidence rebounding after hurricanes

Declining gasoline prices and an improving job market combined to restore consumer confidence to levels last seen before hurricanes plowed into the Gulf Coast, the Conference Board reported. The Consumer Confidence Index stands at 103.6 for the month, beating predictions and up from November's 98.3, which bodes well for 2006 spending, according to the board.
