AT&T aims for driver safety with smartphone app

AT&T has released a smartphone application for Android and BlackBerry devices that is designed to discourage drivers from texting by sending automated replies to incoming messages and e-mails. AT&T DriveMode lets users pick only five contacts they can call while the app is activated. The application is available free through Android Market, BlackBerry App World and AT&T AppCenter, and a version for Apple's iOS is planned.
