News Corp. doesn't see arbitration as way to settle retrans dispute

News Corp. has turned down an offer by Time Warner Cable to enter binding arbitration as a way of settling their dispute over retransmission-consent fees. "This is an issue that needs to be settled at the bargaining table," News Corp. Chief Operating Officer Chase Carey wrote in a letter to U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., who asked the parties to consider arbitration. The current agreement between the companies is set to expire tonight at midnight.
