Shoppers went mobile for holiday-season purchases

Smartphones played a bigger role than ever in consumers' holiday shopping this year, according to a GfK Roper poll. Some 80% of smartphone owners used their devices to research products, up 15 percentage points from last year, while almost three-quarters made mobile purchases. "As ever more consumers adopt smartphones, holiday shopping is likely to get only more mobile," eMarketer notes.
