Top 10: Campbell’s Soup, Tom’s Urban, Halloween treats

Campbell Soup’s plan to sell Bolthouse Farms, Garden Fresh Gourmet and other fresh-food and international divisions topped this week’s list of most-read food-and-beverage stories. The company is also working on other efforts to boost performance.

Some other CPG stories also caught readers’ attention, including the hiring of a long-time Kraft executive as CEO of Hometown Food, the newly created parent of brands including Hungry Jack and Pillsbury, and the announcement of new Halloween candies from Mars Wrigley and Hershey. Coca-Cola’s planned $5.1 billion acquisition of UK-based Costa Coffee landed in the top 10 as well.

On the restaurant side, growth plans for Tom’s Urban, a casual dining and entertainment concept created by Smashburger executives including CEO Tom Ryan, proved popular. Tom’s Urban locations feature interactive sports bars and live music events.
