Fox News Channel is seeking to boost its brand on radio, planning to roll out several new syndicated talk programs, a report says. Currently, Fox Radio is distributed through Viacom and ABC Radio Networks.
MTV Networks CEO Tom Freston may be 56 years old and may have been running the youth-targeted network since 1987, but he still has his finger firmly on the pulse of the zeitgeist, a report says. During his tenure, MTV has metamorphosed from a marginal music network to a media powerhouse, the strongest brand in the Viacom stable, the report adds.
Discovery Networks, U.S. executive vice president Bill McGowan last week said the company has closed "a number of [upfront] deals." McGowan said that targeted cable networks are having better luck in the upfronts than general interest networks are.
The Tennis Channel reportedly has struck a 15-year carriage deal with Time Warner Cable. The agreement may encourage other cable operators to follow suit, Tennis Channel chairman and CEO David Meister says.
