A new study shows a "dramatic link" between weight gain and the development of kidney stones. Women typically run only half the chance of men for developing the potentially painful stones, but the study found that men who had gained 35 pounds since early adulthood were about 40% more likely to suffer kidney stones, while women who gained the same amount were about 70% more likely to develop the stones, compared to people with normal weight.
