The online ad segment is poised to surpass radio by 2008, according to research firm eMarketer. Online is projected to grow from its roughly 5.8% share of the $281 billion-plus ad pie to 8.1% by 2008, vs. radio's slice, which reportedly stands at 6.9%, and is diminishing.
While shares of Yahoo! dropped on news of the company's reorganization, analysts spoke highly of the decision to promote CFO Susan Decker to take charge of advertising. Yahoo! still claims the largest audience of any Web portal, but a consensus is building that the company lacks a coherent identity and mission.
