Britain-based Intercytex Group has developed an artificial, living skin that closes and heals wounds, integrating into the body in 28 days, according to early trials. A cell biologist said the off-the-shelf product could "revolutionize the treatment of burned and skin damaged patients." Others urge caution, saying more trials are needed to see if the skin will work on real wounds on burn victims as well as it works on healthy volunteers.
