AT&T will introduce digital-telephone service to accompany its U-verse network in Connecticut today, only the second market where it has combined video and voice services. AT&T's VoIP customers can integrate land-line phones with high-speed Internet, cell phone and their U-verse services.
AT&T's U-verse service, which delivers TV programs over an Internet connection, hit a snag over the weekend when an outage affected all 33 markets in which it is available. AT&T is still investigating the U-verse glitch.
A Windstream spokesman said the company would, if ordered by the court, release the identities of 10 users being sued anonymously for downloading music illegally. The defendants are currently identified by their IP addresses.
Telecom veterans Dan Caruso and John Scarano have launched Zayo Bandwidth, a new company designed to deliver bandwidth in underserved areas. The company has acquired several regional fiber networks and lined up $225 million in financing as it aims to target "high-bandwidth consumer customers."
