Although millions of families in the U.S. will vacation at a beach or theme park, a growing number are choosing adventurous or "multisport" vacations. Tour operators are catering to this developing niche, and they say the increase in interest is partly because of the baby boomer and post-boomer's focus on the family, which generally includes children old enough for activities such as rafting, hiking and biking.
