In defense of proposed fee increases, officials at Airlines Reporting Corp. say shifting a greater portion of the financial burden to travel agents from the airlines only makes sense, as they move to modernize their systems. ASTA officials, meanwhile, say that shift is exactly what they are concerned about. "They're now saying that we should bear 30 percent of the $50 million, not 10 percent," said Paul Ruden, senior vice president of legal and industry affairs at ASTA.
