MetLife has begun a creative-agency review in which current agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky will not participate. The winning agency must be capable of transforming "a slow and steady, U.S.-focused life insurer to a top-tier global, diversified financial services company," MetLife said.

MDC Partners Inc. reportedly is mulling whether to increase its voting share in its top agency, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, from 49% to 60% this year and 77% in 2008, in line with a move to raise its financial investment to the same levels. Some industry observers speculate that if that were to happen, Crispin may opt to exit MDC, but both Crispin and MDC deny reports of a possible split.
