The Transportation Security Administration held a public hearing recently to gather comments about a proposal to collect certain information about passengers before their flights. The proposal, called Secure Flight, would require airlines and travel agents to provide passenger information 72 hours before the flight departs. "It is still unclear to us how the data that travel agents will end up collecting will be passed from the GDS system, how it will be recorded in there and then passed to the airlines and to the government," said Paul Ruden, staff senior vice president of legal and industry affairs at ASTA.
