Same-sex couples raising children in California are more diverse and have a smaller median household income than their straight, married counterparts, according to a report by the Our Family Coalition, the San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center and Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere. The study, based on census data for San Francisco and Alameda counties, found 69% of same-sex couples raising children were female, and that households of families with same-sex parents had a median household income that was 17% less than straight households.
