With public schools taking insufficient notice of the country's 3 million gifted students and watering down AP classes, we risk losing the nation's best young minds, writes 28-year Los Angeles teaching veteran Walt Gardner. Gifted students need challenging curriculum to keep them engaged in learning; for older students, this increasingly means offering high schoolers dual-enrollment coursework that affords them college credit.
