Southwest Airlines hopes to take a bite out of Delta Air Lines' Atlanta market share as it begins offering service there Feb. 12 following its purchase of AirTran last year. Southwest plans to attract customers with its low fares, lack of baggage fees and cultivation of an image that it is simply more fun to fly than other airlines. "What's different about Southwest? Our legendary customer service, our low fares -- all of that showcased by the people who make a real connection with our customers," Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins said.
AT&T said its U-verse TV service had exceeded 100,000 subscribers in the Houston market, which first experienced U-verse TV in November 2006. AT&T is expected to announce U-verse gains nationally when it reports third-quarter results Wednesday.
AT&T has made its range of U-verse services available to customers in central Arkansas, including cities such as Little Rock, North Little Rock and Benton. The services include U-verse TV, as well as U-verse High-Speed Internet and U-verse Voice.
AT&T has announced that its U-verse video service is now available to 130,000 households in the Kansas City area. Across its video footprint, AT&T estimates that it is installing U-verse services to roughly 12,000 new customers per week.
