Lehman Brothers European real estate analyst Mike Prew likens the REIT market to Fred Flintstone's leg-powered car: "a lot of effort for very little forward motion." Writing in Property Week, Prew says it's hard to be optimistic about 2008 prospects after eight months of a credit drought. "Property may be a long-term asset class, but REITs are businesses that need to earn their keep," Prew said.
