Destinations that rely heavily on air travel, such as Phoenix, Las Vegas and Hawaii, are suffering declines in business visitors and tourism as airlines eliminate flights, raise fares and lay off workers in response to spiraling fuel prices. US Airways has trimmed domestic flights by as much as 8%, and traffic at Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport was down 3% in April over the year before. "Approximately 80% of Scottsdale's visitors arrive by airplane, so any factors that negatively impact air travel will impact our tourism business," said Brent DeRaad of the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
