The Stem Cell Ballot Question Committee in Michigan on Monday will present more than 500,000 petition signatures supporting a ballot measure to throw out a decades-old ban on the use of human embryos for stem cell research, campaign director Mark Burton said. Supporters of the suggested amendment, which would not affect a state law that prohibits cloning, say embryonic stem cells hold great promise for studying and treating diseases.
