Coborn's will begin selling products made at the retailer's new separate, gluten-free baking facility in Minnesota, which makes products including hamburger and hot dog buns, bread, cookies, muffins, cakes, cupcakes, brownies and other items. The certified gluten-free bakery will begin stocking shelves this week, and stores will feature gluten-free bakery racks and gluten-free cakes in their bakery department freezers.
Coborn's has acquired four Marketplace Foods grocery and liquor stores in Wisconsin in a deal expected to close next month. The newly-acquired stores will continue to operate under the Marketplace Foods banner, and they represent Coborn's first traditional grocery stores in the state, Coborn's spokeswoman Rebecca Kurowski said.
Two Cub Foods stores in St. Cloud, Minn., are being acquired by the Coborn's grocery chain. The stores will be rebranded as Cash Wise Foods, and the two liquor stores associated with the Cub Foods properties will remain in operation, a spokesman for Coborn's said.
