Exclusive breast-feeding has been linked to vitamin D deficiency in some infants, and although it is easily prevented or treated with inexpensive vitamin drops or cod liver oil, many providers are reluctant to say anything that might discourage women from breast-feeding. Some experts say conditions may allow rickets to re-emerge.
