Online schools may do more to teach students real-world teamwork than their brick-and-mortar counterparts, writes Lisa McClure, who directs a Washington online school. Employees today are more likely to use such things as video or teleconferencing, e-mail, instant-messaging and the telephone to interact with colleagues, and online students must learn to work collaboratively using such tools in a way that traditional students normally do not, she says.
