U.S. scientists found that blocking the enzyme glycogen synthase kinase, which can combat certain cancers, by using a drug for bipolar disorder helped prolong the life of mice with mixed-lineage leukemia, a rare form of disease that affects infants. The finding may prove useful in developing "better inhibitors that can be administered long term," one of the researchers said.
