The American Dental Association and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continue to recommend the use of dental sealants despite concern over their use of bisphenol A. The ADA says sealants can help prevent cavities for years, while any BPA exposure lasts no more than three hours after the product is first applied. "The BPA issue, I think, is so minuscule in impact that it doesn't really warrant the attention it's been getting," said Dr. Leslie Seldin, a dentist and an ADA consumer adviser.
