Experts at the annual meeting of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology expressed concern over the use and efficacy of sublingual immunotherapy for treating allergies. SLIT comes in tablets or oral drops and is designed to absorb allergens in the body via mouth membranes. Though SLIT is approved in Europe and South America, it has not yielded study results convincing enough to gain FDA approval, an allergy specialist said.
