A Kuwaiti opposition group called Popular Action Bloc is calling on the government to drop plans to invest $7.5 billion in a joint venture with Dow Chemical. The group says that since Dow Chemical's market capitalization has plummeted in the past year, the deal, involving state-owned Petrochemicals Industries Co., represents an act of squandering public funds. The group said it will quiz the prime minister in Parliament if the deal is not dropped.
