U.S. accountants are beginning to accept that the shift to International Financial Reporting Standards will happen, according to a survey released by the AICPA. Arleen Thomas, vice president for member competency and development at AICPA, said the Securities and Exchange Commission's proposed blueprint regarding IFRS seems to have prompted the change of sentiment. "What our tracking survey shows is that CPAs are increasingly aware that international standards are coming and are starting to feel a real need to get training and gain expertise in this new area," Thomas said.
