Franchise restaurants are expected to grow this year, with a 1.5% increase seen for quickservice eateries and a 1.3% expansion seen for full-service establishments, according to a new report issued by the International Franchise Association. Overall, franchises are expected to shrink by 1.2%, but Matthew Shay, IFA president and chief executive, says franchise business leaders have confidence in the entrepreneurial spirit of their franchisees and the fundamentals of the franchise business model to help them weather the economic storm.
