Recycling of plastic bags and film in the U.S. increased by 27% from 2005 to 2007, according to the American Chemistry Council. Numerous mandatory bag-recycling laws have been put into place since then, meaning the rates have likely increased even more. "More Americans are recycling plastic bags and film than ever before, driven by a growing recognition that plastic is a valuable resource -- too valuable to waste," said Steve Russell, managing director for the ACC's Plastics Division.
