The Senate approved an $838 billion economic-stimulus bill in a 61-37 vote. The bill contains several health care allocations, including $16 billion to encourage Medicaid and Medicare providers to adopt health information technology as well as about $87 billion to boost federal funding for Medicaid. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., said the senators plan to work with the House to "speedily resolve" differences between their versions so President Barack Obama could sign the legislation "without delay."
