Facing increased public concern over the health effects of bisphenol A, the six largest manufacturers of baby bottles say they will stop selling bottles in the U.S. that contain the chemical. Attorneys general in Connecticut and New Jersey recently wrote to the bottle makers to request that they voluntarily stop using the chemical, and some said they were already removing BPA from their product lines. The American Chemistry Council this week again noted the FDA's position that BPA does not pose a health risk at current levels found in food bottles and containers.
