Cathy Stoddart was one of nine nurses invited to a discussion of domestic programs and health care reform with President Barack Obama at the White House on Thursday. She said she hoped to give Obama a "nurse's perspective" on what is needed in health care reform, including improved nurse-to-patient ratios, a ban on mandatory overtime and more affordable care for patients. During the event, Maryland RN Linda Bock told Obama, who agreed, that nurses should be included in health reform negotiations because they have a unique perspective on patient needs.
