WellPoint is facing class-action litigation from the American Medical Association and health care societies in several states, including Connecticut and Georgia, over allegations that the company conspired with other insurance firms to give doctors lower reimbursements for out-of-network services. The insurers used a database managed by Ingenix, a unit of UnitedHealth Group, which led to consumers unfairly shouldering large parts of their bills, according to the lawsuit. WellPoint said it is "in the process of reviewing the complaint" and declined to give more details.
