Rick Anicetti, CEO of the Food Lion chain owned by Delhaize Group, said the company will nearly double the number of Bottom Dollar stores in 2010 and lower prices at Food Lion locations. The company aims to open 250 Bottom Dollar and Europe-based Red Market stores over the next three years.
Loblaw Cos. completed its $225 million acquisition of the Asian grocery chain T&T Supermarket. "We will carry more Western groceries to satisfy the Asian families' needs," said the founder and chief executive of T&T, who will continue to lead the supermarket.
Tyson Foods has launched new packaging for its Wright Brand of bacon, supported by radio, public relations and digital efforts from Arnold Worldwide, Boston. The new packaging puts the Wright Brand shield logo in the forefront with the phrase, "Since 1922. Wright Brand. Bigger, Better Bacon."
