On a visit to South Korea 14 years ago, an American professor was so impressed with the maths curriculum there that she brought home South Korean textbooks and had them translated into English. She has been urging US schools to use them in class ever since. However, while US officials have adopted some maths practices and texts from Singapore and Japan, Janice Grow-Maienza says she has found that school officials have little interest in the South Korean texts.
